October 21: Police Commemoration Day

The Police Commemoration Day is celebrated on October 21 every year. The day is observed to honor the martyrs who sacrifice their lives in this service to the nation.  This year, the day was observed to honor the police officers from across the country who have been working day and night to ensure  COVID-19 norms are followed properly. They are the frontline workers who  have been risking their lives in order to contain the spread of the virus. Home Minister, Chief Minister, Cabinet Ministers, Members of Parliament (MPs), MLAs, MLCs and top police personnel will be reviewing the parade and pay tributes to martyrs. The history this Day dates back to October 21, 1959. In the year 1959 Chinese forces attacked and trap a patrol party of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). In the battle, 10 jawans lost their lives while fighting for the country at the Indo-Tibetan border. The Day is celebrated every year to pay homage to those 10 police officials. India test fired the Brahmos Missile with an Indigenous Booster

  India successfully test fired the surface-to-surface supersonic cruise missile Brahmos having an indigenous booster and airframe section at Balasore, Odisha on September 30, 2020. About Brahmos It was developed by jointly by Defence Research Development Organization (DRDO) and the Federal State Unitary Enterprise NPO Mashinostroyenia (NPOM) of Russia. Brahmos is a ramjet supersonic cruise missile which can be launched from submarines, land, ships or fighter jets. It is a two-stage missile with: A solid propellant booster engine as its first stage- it brings the missile to supersonic speed after which it gets separated And the liquid ramjet or the second stage- which takes the missile closer to Mach 3 or three times the speed of sound in cruise phase. It has been named after the rivers Brahmaputra and Moskva. It has a flight range of 300 km. The range of Brahmos missile has been increased to 450-600 km in compliance with the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR). Missile Technology
